Wheelbuilding Kits
Complete wheelbuilding kits for road, gravel and MTB
Our wheelbuilding kits make it easy to build a high-quality wheelset using components that are technically matched to each other. Each kit combines carefully selected rims, hubs, spokes and nipples, so you do not have to source every component separately.
For professional wheelbuilders, bike shops and experienced custom builders, this is an efficient way to order the correct combination of components. Rim, hub, spoke type and spoke length are matched to provide a reliable starting point for a high-quality wheel build.
Within this category you will find wheelbuilding kits for:
- Road
- Gravel
- MTB
- Aero wheelsets
- Ultra-light climbing wheels
- Carbon spoke wheelsets
- High-end custom wheel builds
Everything for a complete wheelset in one package
A high-quality wheelset is about much more than the rim alone. Hub geometry, flange position, spoke length, spoke type and nipples all influence the final quality of the wheel.
That is why our wheelbuilding kits combine components that form a logical and technically compatible system.
Depending on the selected kit, the package can include:
- Two carbon rims
- Front and rear hubs
- Spokes
- Nipples
- Pre-calculated spoke lengths
- Freehub body depending on selected version
This saves time when selecting and calculating individual components.
Carbon wheelbuilding kits
A large part of our wheelbuilding range is based on modern carbon rims. Carbon allows very lightweight, stiff and aerodynamic rim profiles to be produced.
Depending on the intended use, you can choose between different rim depths and widths.
Lower carbon rims around 30 to 35 mm are especially interesting for riders who want maximum weight savings and fast acceleration.
Deeper rims such as 45, 50 or 60 mm are more focused on aerodynamic efficiency and maintaining high speeds.
Internal rim width is also important. Modern wider rims work particularly well with 28 mm and wider road tyres and can improve comfort, grip and stability.
Wheelbuilding kits with carbon spokes
In addition to traditional steel aero spokes, we also offer wheelbuilding kits with carbon spokes.
Carbon spokes are extremely light and provide high tensile stiffness. This makes them an excellent choice for ultra-light performance wheelsets.
Our carbon spoke kits are combined with dedicated hubs that are designed for this spoke construction. This creates a complete system in which rim, hub and spoke are correctly matched.
With selected kits, a complete wheelset can weigh under 1,000 grams, depending on the rim, hub and freehub body used.
These wheelbuilding kits are especially interesting for:
- Climbers
- Competitive riders
- Weight-weenies
- High-end custom wheelbuilders
- OEM wheel brands
- Riders looking for an extremely lightweight wheelset
Wheelbuilding kits with aero spokes
For aero road and gravel wheels, we also offer wheelbuilding kits with lightweight bladed aero spokes.
These spokes combine low weight with an aerodynamic profile and are particularly well suited to high-end road wheelsets.
Depending on the kit, components such as Alpina Ultralite Aero Straight Pull spokes may be used.
Combined with deeper carbon rims, these spokes are ideal for fast road riding, racing, triathlon and high-speed group rides.
Hubs for high-end wheelbuilding
The hub is a critical part of every wheelset. That is why our wheelbuilding kits only use hubs that match the performance level of the rims and spokes.
Depending on the kit, hub features may include:
- AL7075 hub shell
- Straight Pull spoke interface
- Carbon spoke interface
- Ratchet freehub system
- Ceramic bearings
- 12x100 mm front axle
- 12x142 mm rear axle
- Center Lock rotor mounting
Different freehub body options may also be available, including:
- Shimano HG
- SRAM XDR
- Campagnolo N3W
- Micro Spline or other versions depending on the hub
Always check the available freehub options on the individual wheelbuilding kit.
Pre-calculated spoke lengths
One of the biggest advantages of a complete wheelbuilding kit is that the required spoke lengths can be calculated in advance.
Correct spoke length depends on factors including:
- Rim NSD / ERD
- Hub flange diameter
- Flange spacing
- Lacing pattern
- Number of spoke holes
- Straight Pull or T-Head construction
These factors are already considered when we assemble our wheelbuilding kits.
Where specified, the kit is supplied with the correct spoke lengths for the front and rear wheel.
This means the wheelbuilder does not have to calculate the complete rim and hub geometry again and reduces the risk of ordering incorrect spoke lengths.
For professional wheelbuilders and custom builds
Our wheelbuilding kits are designed for customers who build wheels themselves or have them professionally built.
They are especially suitable for:
- Professional wheelbuilders
- Bike shops
- Wheel brands
- OEM projects
- Custom bike builders
- Experienced home wheelbuilders
- Competitive cyclists
The parts are supplied as separate components, so the wheels are not normally delivered pre-built.
For maximum performance and durability, we recommend that the wheels are built by an experienced wheelbuilder.
Choosing the right wheelbuilding kit
The best wheelbuilding kit depends on how the wheelset will be used.
For climbing and the lowest possible weight, a lower and lighter rim is generally the preferred choice.
For all-round road use, a rim depth of around 40 to 50 mm often provides an excellent balance between aerodynamics and weight.
For maximum aero performance, deeper 50 to 60 mm rims are especially attractive.
Spoke type also plays an important role. Carbon spokes are ideal for ultra-light builds, while steel aero spokes often provide an excellent balance of aerodynamics, serviceability and durability.
Why choose a complete wheelbuilding kit?
A complete wheelbuilding kit offers several advantages compared with ordering every component separately:
- All essential components in one order
- Rim and hub technically matched
- Correct quantity of spokes and nipples
- Pre-calculated spoke lengths where specified
- Reduced risk of incorrect component combinations
- Less time spent on calculations
- Easier stock management for wheelbuilders
- Ideal for professional and OEM wheel production
This allows you to focus on the actual wheelbuilding process and final setup.
Frequently asked questions about wheelbuilding kits
What is included in a wheelbuilding kit?
This varies by product, but a typical kit contains two rims, a front and rear hub, spokes and nipples.
Are the wheels supplied built?
No. Our wheelbuilding kits are supplied as separate components unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Are the spoke lengths already calculated?
For many of our assembled kits, the correct spoke lengths are pre-calculated and supplied with the kit.
Can I choose different freehub bodies?
With many kits, yes. Common options include Shimano HG, SRAM XDR and Campagnolo N3W. Available options depend on the hub.
Are the rims Tubeless Ready?
Many of our modern carbon rims are Tubeless Ready. Always check the specifications of the selected kit.
Can I order the kit as a complete built wheelset?
Products in this category are primarily intended as DIY wheelbuilding kits. Build options may vary depending on the individual product or project.
Are these kits suitable for professional wheelbuilding?
Yes. The category is specifically aimed at professional wheelbuilders, bike shops, OEM customers and experienced custom builders.
What is the difference between a carbon spoke kit and a traditional wheelbuilding kit?
A carbon spoke kit uses dedicated carbon spokes and compatible hubs. Traditional wheelbuilding kits normally use steel Straight Pull or J-Bend spokes.
Which rim depth should I choose?
That depends on your intended use. Lower rims are generally lighter and well suited to climbing. Deeper rims provide more aerodynamic benefit at higher speeds.
Can I change individual components within a kit?
The kits are deliberately built around specific component combinations. If components are changed, spoke length, geometry and compatibility should be checked again.
