The DT Swiss Ratchet DEG DF Upgrade Kit adds an adjustable anti-pedal-kickback system to existing DT Swiss Ratchet DEG rear hubs. With three selectable settings of 0°, 10° and 20°, the freehub engagement can be adapted to the bicycle, terrain and riding style.
Increased suspension control
On full-suspension mountain bikes, compression of the rear suspension can create additional tension in the chain. This phenomenon, known as pedal kickback, can be felt through the pedals and may restrict the movement of the rear suspension.
DF technology creates a controlled amount of free movement in the freehub before engagement. This helps reduce unwanted chain tension during suspension compression and allows the rear suspension to move more freely. The result is a smoother and more natural ride, particularly on technical descents.
Three adjustable settings
0° – Cross-country
Maintains the direct engagement of the Ratchet DEG system. Suitable for cross-country riding and situations where immediate power transfer is important.
10° – All-mountain and trail
Adds 10 degrees of free movement before the freehub engages. A balanced setting for technical trails where pedal kickback is noticeable.
20° – Enduro and downhill
Provides the greatest reduction in pedal kickback. Designed for enduro, freeride and downhill riding, where maximum rear-suspension freedom is required.
Once installed, the desired setting can be adjusted without tools.
Compatibility
The upgrade kit is suitable for MTB rear hubs equipped with a DT Swiss Ratchet DEG 72T or 90T freehub system.
Not compatible with:
- Traditional DT Swiss Ratchet systems
- Ratchet EXP systems
- Ratchet LN systems
- Three-pawl freehub systems
- Ratchet DEG Hybrid systems with 60 teeth
